Jax Beer Week Day 4: More Movies, Tastings, and Tappings

The only way to describe the first Jacksonville Beer Week up to this point is that it is an unqualified success. So far this week there have been beer dinners, tastings, and tap takeovers. Last night the screening of “Beer Wars” at the newly restored Sun Ray Cinema in 5-Points was interesting, entertaining, and with a pitcher of Intuition Ale Works’ Sun Ray Wit created specifically for the theater, delicious. The movie sparked several lively and interesting conversations segued to an equally engaging conversation over dinner with the owners and officers of Brown Distributing at Pele’s Wood Fire.
Tonight the Jax Beer Week festivities continue with:

Engine 15

The long-awaited tapping of Amber Waves Amber Ale happens this evening. Florida Times-Union journalists Roger Bull and Ed Stansel created the beer especially for Jax Beer Week on Engine 15’s equipment. The name of the ale refers to the name of the blog that Bull and Stansel write for the Times-Union. All proceeds from the beer will be donated to the St. John’s Riverkeeper.

Grass Roots Natural Market

The guys at Grassroots are all true beer lovers, all one has to do is look at the impressive selection of high quality brews available for sale at the Park Ave. grocer. Today from 4:00 until 8:00 pm you can stop by and taste some of the exceptional local brews they have available from Bold City Brewing and Intuition Ale Works. In addition, both Intuition and Bold City will have special cask beers for tasting – if one of the available casks is Intuition’s Golden Spiral made with kumquats and rosemary, do not miss it! As if all that was not enough Michael Payne of the newly announced Aardwolf Brewery in San Marco will be there offering samples of his home brews.

Brewer’s Pizza

Tonight Brewer’s is hosting a local IPA night with great hoppy beers from all the local brewers and the debut of their own Landslide Double IPA. They will also be offering a special soup and bread both made with IPA beer.

Mile Marker Brewery

Grab some popcorn and relax for a double feature of two great beer movies; “Beerfest” and “Strange Brew.” Our friends down south will transform the brewery into a movie theater and let the hilarity fly and the beer flow (mouse in bottle not included).
