Memorial Weekend Events, Something for Everyone

23 May

The Memorial Day weekend in Jacksonville is shaping up to be a very busy one. There is so much happening that it might just be impossible to do everything. But, there are those who will certainly try. Among the many activities to choose from, it is inevitable that there are a few beer events in the offing. And it would be criminal to not pass that information on.

5 Points

The quirky, funky, and totally hip 5 Points section of Riverside is holding a Spring Fling and blocking off the entire merchant district between Lomax and Post Streets. The festival will include a flag presentation to honor America’s fallen soldiers, ten bands, street performers, arts and crafts, food, fun, and an after party that will include tasting over 100 beers from around the world. There could not be a better way to spend a warm Jacksonville Saturday.

The event will begin at 12:00a.m. and will run into the wee hours of the morning with bands taking the stage as late as midnight. But, if you are interested in the After Party beer tasting, plan on arriving around 6:00 p.m. and enjoying the suds until 10:00 p.m. Or, for those who prefer, try a Rumrunner in a souvenir glass that is yours to keep.

Wristbands are $20 and available at Riverside Liquors.
